The verb bagizo "s/he swims, goes swimming, bathes" emphasizes immersion in the water. Swimming in different ways or directions is indicated with a VAI verb final /-aadagaa/ (or /-aadage/ in the Border Lakes region and further north) combined with a verb initial indicating the manner or direction of the action as in biidaadagaa and biidaadage "s/he swims here" and gizhiiyaadagaa and gizhiiyaadage "s/he swims fast".
