odoozhimisan nad

h/ niece (parallel niece: female's sister's daughter or male's brother's daughter)

Note:
A sibling's daughter is called niece in English but in Anishinaabemowin there are two different terms depending on the relative gender of the siblings. If their gender is the same, then the daughter is a  parallel niece, a female's sister's daughter or a male's brother's daughter. There is no simple independent word for this relative. A personal prefix goes with the dependent noun stem /=doozhimis-/ niece (parallel niece) to make a full word:
  • nindoozhimis, indoozhimis, ndoozhimis my niece (parallel niece) (1s-3s)
  • gidoozhimis your niece (parallel niece) (2s-3s)
  • odoozhimisan h/ niece (parallel niece)
  • [MN] odoozhimisan h/ niece (parallel niece) / nieces (parallel nieces) (3s-3')
  • [BL] odoozhimisan h/ niece (parallel niece) (3s-3's)
  • [BL] odoozhimisa’ h/ nieces (parallel nieces) (3s-3'p)Some basic forms of
