How to use the Ojibwe People's Dictionary

Note:
There is no simple independent word for thigh. A personal prefix goes with the dependent noun stem /=bwaam-/ thigh to make a full word:
  • nibwaam, nimbwaam, imbwaam my thigh (1s-0s)
  • gibwaam your thigh (2s-0s)
  • obwaam h/ thigh t (3s-0s)

Individual speakers and speakers from different regions use different words when speaking. Each audio recording is marked with the initials of the Ojibwe speaker.
