How to use the Ojibwe People's Dictionary

Note:
There is no simple independent word for body. A personal prefix goes with the dependent noun stem /=iiyaw-/ body to make a full word:
  • niiyaw my body (1s-0s)
  • giiyaw your body (2s-0s)
  • wiiyaw h/ body (3s-0s); some people have an alternate form owiiyaw

Speakers & Regions Key

Individual speakers and speakers from different regions use different words when speaking. Each audio recording is marked with the initials of the Ojibwe speaker.
