How to use the Ojibwe People's Dictionary

Note:
There is no simple independent word for bill, beak. A personal prefix goes with the dependent noun stem /=koozh-/ bill, beak to make a full word:
  •  okoozh its bill, beak (3s-0s)

The following might occur when birds speak (as in stories) or are spoken to: 
  • nikoozh my bill, beak (1s-0s)
  • gikoozh your bill, beak (2s-0s)

Individual speakers and speakers from different regions use different words when speaking. Each audio recording is marked with the initials of the Ojibwe speaker.
